Before beginning ones basement redesigning project, there are various actions to take to protect ones investment.
1) Make certain you do not have foundation trouble. Aesthetically examine the floor and the wall surfaces for fractures that seem to be shifting. Foundation fractures which are bigger than a hairline may suggest that you've got other issues taking place. See our Foundation Repair page for more information about what to watch out for.
2) Make certain there isn't liquid trouble. Dripping breaks, liquid springing up through the floor/wall joint and other problems making your basement get moist is aggravating and expensive. See our Waterproofing Solutions web page to view the eight things you can do to make certain you do have a
dry basement.
3) Dehumidify the area. Almost all of the wall surfaces finished in basements are confronted with paper-faced drywall mounted on wooden studs. It's reputed that mold feeds on paper. Wood is organic as well as a food source. Sometimes a typical dehumidifier is not going to make the grade inside of a big place.
